My name is Damian Grzegolec, and I’m developing Mournhold. This is my first serious game with plans to release on Steam. This blog is primarily my personal gamedev journey documentation, but if anyone stumbles upon it and wants to follow along, I’ll be thrilled!
Where did Mournhold come from?
I’ve been doing gamedev for years, but mostly as a hobby prototyping, having fun with mechanics, and playing with different tech. In 2024, I finally decided to commit to a project worth releasing. After all, I’m not getting any younger. After a few prototypes, I started working on Mournhold in December 2024.
What kind of game is it?
Key inspirations include:
- Legend of Grimrock (exploration, dungeon crawling)
- FTL (strategy, management, and roguelite elements)
- Slot machines as part of the combat system
The atmosphere aims for the dark vibes of Bloodborne and Darkest Dungeon. More details coming soon!
